Police Neutralise Kidnapping Gang Leader, Arrest One in Kebbi
The Kebbi State Police Command has neutralised the leader of a kidnapping and arrested one member of the gang in an operation.
The eight-man gang have been terrorising communities including Geza, Adawa, Matsinkai, Sharabi, Illela, Suru, Dakin Gari, Bagudo, and surrounding areas in Bagudo local government area of the state.
A statement issued on Saturday by the Command spokesperson, SP Bashir Adamu, said the gang members had kidnapped one Alhaji Abu Geza of Geza village, who was later rescued.
The statement said a follow-up operation led to the arrest of Bube Tukur of Yarma Village, Suru LGA, who resides in Kasuwar Daji, Bagudo LGA.
Tukur, a member of a kidnapping gang responsible for the abduction of Alh. Abu Geza, was apprehended while in possession of one locally fabricated pistol and one live cartridge.
“The suspect led operatives to the gang leader’s hideout, Jiji Mujugu, who opened fire and attempted to escape. Operatives returned fire, neutralising him. One locally fabricated pistol was recovered from him.
“The gang had been terrorising communities including Geza, Adawa, Matsinkai, Sharabi, Illela, Suru, Dakin Gari, Bagudo, and surrounding areas. Efforts to arrest other fleeing members are ongoing.
“The Commissioner of Police commends the public for their cooperation and urges residents to continue providing timely information.
