Kastina govt constructs 40 latrines at major markets

Date:

In a bid to check indiscriminate practices of open defecation, the Katsina state government, has constructed 40 toilets in some of its major markets and motor parks.

The Executive Director, State Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA), Alhaji Lawal Yunusa disclosed this during the official commissioning of some of the facilities yesterday in Charanchi community.

He also said that the decision was aimed at reducing the ugly trend that is being practiced by the people, especially during the authorised market days.

The ED also expressed the hope that, with the construction of toilets in such public places, at least the rate of open defecation would reduce, urging residents to utilise the facilities and shun the practice of indiscriminate open defecation.
