Kaduna State is preparing to accelerate its transition to a technology-focused education system, with plans to collaborate with the University of London on distance-learning projects. Commissioner of Education, Prof. Abubakar Sani Sambo, announced that a delegation of prominent intellectuals from the state attended the 2026 edition of the Research in Distance and E-Learning (RIDE) Conference at the University of London.
The delegation, comprising five professors, met with international experts in digital, blended, and distance education and discussed potential collaborations with the University of London’s Centre for Online and Distance Education (CODE). An agreement, known as a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), is expected to be signed between Kaduna State University (KASU) and the University of London to enhance online and distance learning.
Prof. Sambo stated that the partnership will focus on training academics in digital teaching methods and course delivery, joint research initiatives, academic exchange programs, and technical support for digital learning infrastructure. A pilot Central Learning Management System (LMS) will be implemented at KAS to support digital learning.
The RIDE conference reinforced Kaduna State’s ongoing education reforms, including expanding hybrid and computer-based testing systems. The state has bolstered the Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority (KSSQAA) with digital tools and is promoting equitable access through technology-enabled learning.
The seven-member delegation that attended the RIDE conference included notable academics and officials from Kaduna State, such as Prof. Abubakar Sani Sambo, Prof. Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa, and Prof. Bello Ayuba.
