Katsina ADC Mocks Mustapha Inuwa, Lawal Daura Over Defection

The Katsina State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (ADC) has mocked Dr Mustapha Inuwa who defected to the All Progressives Congress after losing the governorship ticket of the party.

In a statement issued by the Media Director, ADC Media Organization, Surajo Mustapha, the party said Dr. Mustapha’s defection and that of Lawal Daura, did not come to it as a surprise.

“We saw this coming. We said it. We knew it. And today, history has once again proved us right.

“Dr. Mustapha Inuwa’s departure from the ADC is not a surprise to us. It is simply a repetition of what he has done before. People may have short memories, but we do not forget.

“Dr. Mustapha Inuwa spent seven years as Secretary to the State Government under the administration of former Governor Aminu Bello Masari. But what happened after the APC governorship primary when he failed to secure the ticket in 2023? He resigned from the APC and moved to the PDP.

“Today, the same pattern has repeated itself in the ADC. He did not get the governorship ticket, and he has left. So, what exactly is new?

“We knew this would happen. We understood that if Mustapha Inuwa did not emerge as the ADC governorship candidate, he would leave the party. Now, that prediction has become reality.

“The same applies to Lawal Daura. We also knew that the moment it became clear that he would not get the ticket, he could decide to leave. And that too has come to pass.”

The party said it was disappointing that the two politicians have been desperately attempting to blame the ADC for their exit to attract public sympathy.

The ADC challenged Mustapha Inuwa, who was once among the loudest critics of the APC, to tell the people of Katsina State what has changed in the lives of Nigerians under the APC that warranted his defection to the party.

“As for Lawal Daura, politics is not a shortcut to personal ambition. Joining a political party means accepting its rules, processes and democratic procedures. Nobody is entitled to a ticket simply because they joined a party and expected to become its candidate.

“The ADC has conducted its political process, and Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita has emerged as the party’s governorship candidate in Katsina State.

“Whether anybody likes it or not, we stand firmly behind our candidate. We believe Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita is qualified, experienced and capable of leading the ADC’s campaign for political change in Katsina State.”

The party said the party is bigger than any individual, and their departure will not destroy the movement whose strength comes from the people.

“It is a party of the masses—a political vehicle for Nigerians who believe that government can and must work for the people.

“So, if some individuals believe that leaving the ADC because they could not secure a ticket will weaken the party, they should think again.”
