Katsina bye-election: A clash of two brothers

It is set that the Daura senatorial bye-election will be a contest between two brothers from the same family who will seek election to be member House of Representatives.
They are Ahmad Babba Kaita on the APC platform and Kabir Babba Kaita under the PDP umbrella.
Ahmad Babba Kaita emerged the APC flag bearer in a keenly contested primary election where he scored 1723 votes to defeat his closest rival, a member of House of Representatives, Nasiru Sani Zangon Daura who scored 1474 votes.
Similarly, Kabir Babbba Kaita of the PDP emerged through a consensus where his rival for the primary election, Mani Nasarawa withdraw from the contest.
Speaking shortly after the conduct of the primary election, APC Katsina State chairman, Shitu S. Shitu urged other contestants that lost the election to rally round the winner to make sure his party won the schedule secondary election.
It could be recalled that the Daura senatorial seat became vacant following the death of its former occupant, Senator Mustapha Bukar on April 4 2018.
The INEC has scheduled the bye- election to hold on the 11th of August 2018 and the election would be held in all the twelve local government that made up the zone.
The local governments include, Daura, Zango, Baure, Sandamu, Mai’adua, Mashi, Ingawa, Mani, Dutsi, Kusada, Bindawa and Kakia.
