Katsina Emirate Honours Gov. Idris With ‘Garkuwan Katsina Babba’ Title

The Emir of Katsina, Dr. Abdulmumin Kabiru Usman has honoured Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris with the traditional title of Garkuwan Katsina Babba in recognition of his contributions to the development of Kebbi State and Nigeria at large.

The Secretary of the Katsina State Emirate Council, Alhaji Isa Ali Kankia, formally presented the letter conveying the traditional title to Governor Idris at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, on Friday, October 2, 2026.

Speaking during the presentation, Alhaji Ali Kankia said he was delegated by the Emir of Katsina to formally convey the honour to the governor in recognition of his achievements and leadership record

He said the Emirate Council had been following the governor’s activities and developmental initiatives, which earned him recognition.

“This honour was given to you because you merit it. We have been watching your activities on television, social media, and in the print media, and we are impressed by what you are doing,” he said.

Alhaji Ali Kankia commended the Kebbi State Government for its support for the vulnerable and less privileged members of society, as well as development programmes and governance across rural and urban communities.

He further observed that people from outside Kebbi State were also benefiting from the administration’s policies and programmes, describing this as an indication of an inclusive style of leadership.

According to him, the achievements of Governor Idris had strengthened the relationship between the Katsina Emirate and the Gwandu Emirate, providing further grounds for the honour.

Responding, Governor Nasir Idris expressed profound appreciation to the Emir of Katsina, the Emirate Council, and the people of Katsina State for honour.

He said that this significant recognition would further encourage him to remain committed to serving the people and advancing the development of Kebbi State.

Governor Idris pledged to continue with initiatives that promote inclusion and improvement in the welfare of citizens so as to give every segment of the society a sense of belonging.
