Kimpact Development Initiative (KDI) has launched the ‘Naija Elections’ AI tool to combat electoral misinformation and disinformation in Nigeria.

“This platform empowers our youths with easy access to accurate real-time electoral information, enabling informed decisions and active participation in the electoral process,” said Jamila Ibrahim, the Honourable Minister for Youth, during the unveiling.

Supported by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), this AI tool aims to revolutionize youth participation in Nigerian elections by bridging the electoral information gap.

Bukola Idowu, KDI’s executive director, emphasized the tool’s user-friendly design: “Every piece of information on Naija Elections is sourced from official channels, such as the Constitution and INEC. Users can access reliable information without the need to sign in or store personal data.”

Rowe also noted the global significance of combating misinformation: “As we celebrate this launch, we must recognize the challenges of misinformation and disinformation. Platforms like this play a vital role in strengthening democracy in Nigeria and supporting global democratic values.”

The ‘Naija Elections’ app, developed by Nigerians, offers comprehensive electoral information and is accessible at www.naijaelections.ng.
