Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, has approved the creation of a new district in Suru Local Government Area and upgraded Tarasa Village Head to a district in Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area as part of efforts to strengthen traditional administration in the state.

The approval was announced in a statement issued on Thursday by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Garba Dutsinmari.

According to the statement, Zarmakwai District was created from Aljannare District in Suru Local Government Area, with Alhaji Aliyu Abubakar Sarki appointed as its pioneer District Head.

“The creation of the new district and the upgrade were carried out in accordance with the Kebbi State Local Government Law, 2008, Section 10, Subsections (A) and (B), which empower local governments to create districts and appoint district heads,” he said.

He urged the newly appointed district heads to justify the confidence reposed in them by serving their communities with integrity and commitment.
