Kebbi: Gov’s aide urges APC gubernatorial aspirant to trade with caution

Special Adviser to the Governor of Kebbi State on Political Matters, Alh Yusuf Haruna Rashid (Sardaunan Gwandu) has advised Chiroman Kabi, Alh Ibrahim Muhammed Mera to trade with caution in his gubernatorial bid, in order not to bring disrepute to Traditional Institutions in the State.
In an exclusive interview with our correspondent yesterday, Alhaji Yusuf Haruna stated that the traditional status of Ciroman Kabi is an honourable title that should not be dragged into political mud.
He opined that members of Royal Families are constitutionally allowed to contest for any political position, but decorum needs to be applied to avoid misdemeanour and disrepute to the revered Institution.
“An eligible First Class Emir should not give in easily to political mirage that can create unease, unnecessary bickering and divisions amongst members of Royal Families in the State,” he said.
“Similarly, since Commoners cannot aspire to become Traditional Rulers, nobility dictates that members of royal families should also shy away from joining issues with their subjects in vying for political offices, as it belittles their status in the society.
“We should take cue from the current Emir of Kano HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II, who resisted all pressures to contest for political positions and confined himself to pursuit of his ancestral position which he earned honorably.”
