Kebbi govt, consumer goods coy in pact to train women in entrepreneurship

Kebbi State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Procter and Gamble, the leading Consumer Goods Company in Nigeria aimed at empowering women in Kebbi State.
Signing the MoU weekend, the Kebbi State Governor Senator Atiku Bagudu Abubakar said that the partnership will support the Kebbi women entrepreneurs project, adding that his administration is dedicated to ensuring that women are given the right boost to start and maintain a business as well as participate in contributing to the economic growth of the State.
“Having an organization that will support us like this is admirable, and women will be self-reliant,” he added.
In her remarks, the wife of the Kebbi State Governor Dr. Zainab Bagudu commended the efforts of the Governor and the company for signing the MoU , adding that this partnership will yield great results, not just for the women individually but also for the society at large.
“I am very passionate about training and empowering women because I understand the huge contributions that women can make in the societies, however, I cannot do it alone and that is why I am grateful to have the support of a corporate organization like P and G, lending it’s voice and resources to support me in the cause of women empowerment,” she said.
Responding, the Director of Government Relation for Africa in charge of P and G Company, Mrs. Temitope llumeyi said that the partnership is in line with our commitments to impact lives through sustainable investments and to remove barriers to women’s economic empowerment.
“We are committed to empowering women to live to their fullest potential, deepening economic equality and inclusive growth can only make our world stronger, through our company and brand impact program, we are helping to make gender and economic equality achievable and when a women is empowered her family is empowered a d by extension the society is empowered,” she said.
