Kebbi state Commissioner of Information, Alhaji Sani D. Kanya has said that over 7 billion naira has been set aside for the purchase of textbooks at both junior and senior secondary schools across the state.

Addressing newsmen at Government House, Birnin Kebbi, shortly after the state’s executive council meeting, the commissioner said that the development is to promote the education and improved the learning of the students at the grassroots.

He explained that the present administration has promised to improve the standard of education by leaving good legacy and ensure a positive result before the end of May 2015.

Kanya said that at the end of the meeting, the council has approved the construction of some roads across the state, such as Kataru-Kainiki-Keji-Mahaya roads, worth over 1billion naira and cover 18km.

He added that the construction of the road from Suru-Sangeh-Fanadi was also approved by the council, worth over N 2 billion, covering 20 kilometers.

He then urged the contractors handling the projects across the state to hasten and ensure the completion of the on-going projects at the stipulated term.
