The USAID funded Health Communication Capacity (HC3) in collaboration with the Kebbi state government, have commenced the development of a comprehensive state level social behavioral change and communication for Malaria elimination.
The was disclosed yesterday by the state consultant of the programme, Sammy Olaniru, in Birnin-Kebbi, adding that the programme would train stakeholders to develop and also to advocate for the Capacity Social mobilization( ACSM) framework adopted from the national strategic framework on elimination of malaria.
‘’The national framework on elimination of malaria would guide the state’s plan and implement communication interventions focused for the right message to the right audience at the right time, the USAID and state government envision that the state advocacy capacity social mobilization would ensure that Malaria, that constitutes huge epidemiological burden to the country through high morbidity and mortality can be eliminated” he added.
However, Mr. Olaniru further pointed out that the malaria disease is treatable and can be prevented while the USAID funded project is a joint one implemented by the John Hopkins Bloomberg school of public health, center for communication programmes Nigeria, and Health communication capacity collaboration.
