Kidnappers kill Kaduna business man, demand N20m ransom for wife’s release

A Kaduna based businessman, Alhaji Sherif Abida Yazid has been shot dead along Kaduna- Abuja Expressway by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
A source close the family confirmed the killing to Peoples Daily Newspaper in Kaduna yesterday.
Investigation revealed that the late Sherif was on his way from Abuja to Kaduna in company of his wife when he was ambushed by the kidnappers and was later shot on the neck.
When our correspondent visited the crime scene which is very close to the Kaduna Toll Gate, villagers said when they heard gun shots they quickly alerted the security agents who were just a stone throw away.
The security Operatives later moved to the area but the gunmen were said to have disappeared into the nearby forest.
As at the time of filing in this report, security agents were said to be on the trail of the gunmen.
The body of late Alhaji Sherif Abida Yazid was later brought back to his family house along Jabi Road Kaduna.
Immediately the news of the death of the late businessman was broken, friends and relations have been trooping to the house for condolence.
The Sultan Bello Mosque was filled to capacity when the corpse was moved there for final prayers. The corpse was later committed to mother soil at the Isa -kaita Road Cementry amidst tears and wailing.
Another source who will not want his name on print, said the kidnappers who are still holding the wife of the late Sherif have demanded a ransom of 20 million for her release.
