An All Progressive congress (APC) gubernatorial aspirant in the 2019 Kogi governorship election, Prince Mona Audu has dragged his party to court challenging his disqualification from the contest by the APC Governorship Primary Election Screening Committee.
Audu in a suit No: HCL/34/2019 filed in a Kogi State High Court holding in Lokoja joined the following as defendants: Adams Oshiomole, National Chairman of All Progressive Congress, All Progressive Congress, Kogi State Chapter, Chairman of APC Governorship Primary Election Screening Committee, Chairman of APC Governorship Primary Election Appeal Committee and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Mona among other things is praying the court to declare his exclusion from the list of the Governorship candidate as a breach of his right to fair hearing, unconstitutional null and void.
The guber hopeful also wants a declaration by the court that APC’s conduct of its screening exercise is in breach of the letters and spirit of the party’s constitution.
He also sought the order of the court to direct the National Chairman of the Party, Mr. Adams Oshiomole and All Progressive Congress, Kogi State Chapter to include his name as one of the governorship aspirants contesting the Primaries Election holding on the 29th day of August, 2019.
It could be recalled that Mona and some of the aspirants were disqualified by the APC Governorship Primary Election Screening Committee and it was also upheld by the APC Governorship Primary Election Appeal Committee.
