The Executive Chairman of Kuje Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abdullahi Sabo, has presented 7.1 billion Naira proposal for the 2020 fiscal year, to the Council’s legislative arm.
Sabo, who made the presentation to the lawmakers on Monday, expressed joy as the 2020 Council’s budget.
According to him, “budget as we all know is an estimation of revenue and expenses over a specified period of time complied and re-evaluated on a periodic basis.
“The budget which is a legal and binding document gives meaningful direction to the entire financial activity vis-à-vis the developmental objectives and goals of the government.”
He, therefore, urged the lawmakers to expedite action on the early passage of the budget estimates for the benefit of the electorate.
While fielding questions from the journalists, Sabo said his administration would use this year’s budget to execute meaningful projects in the area.
He also pointed out that his leadership would give priority attention to the environmental cleanliness, adding that his administration would mapp-out strategies on how to stop dumping of refuse anyhow in the area.
When asked on the teachers’ transfer to the rural areas, the Chairman said the transfer of the teachers to the grassroots was not based on sentiments, but is a part of the process.
Also speaking, the speaker of the legislative arm of the Area Council, Hon. (Alhaji) Aminu Ibrahim, said he would join hands with the members of the legislature to do justice to the budget proposal, in order to move Kuje to the next level.
