Kwali: Wike unveils 11km Yangoji-Sukuku – Ebo road

In continuation with the commissioning of completed six rural roads in Abuja, the  Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike yesterday performed the official opening of the 11km Yangoji- Sukuku-Ebo road, in Kwali Area Council of the Territory.

Wike also promised to construct a new bridge to link some Kwali communities to other communities in Kuje Area Council.

The minister, who was responding to the request of the Kwali Area Council chairman, Danladi Chiya said: “Because you have led your people we’ll,  because you are supporting government and because your people are happy with you; let me tell you, the bridge is done.”

He reiterated the need for the people to support the government of President Tinubu as Tinubu’s government is out to benefit the populace.

“Mr. President told me that anything you want, you just ask me, we will do it for you.

“You requested for the construction of this road during the stakeholders meeting. Here we are commission it, this is promise made and promise kept.

“You are the first community where we are doing a road and installing streetlights. This tell us that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government is for the people, just be patient, you will benefit from this government”, the minister stated.

He also thanked Gilmor, the construction company that executed the project, for refurbishing a primary school and constructing a modern round about in the community.

On her part, FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, recalled that the project was flagged off on February 7th, 2024, with the aim to  enhancing accessibility, foster economic growth, and strengthen the social fabric of the FCT communities.

She said: “As I stated during the flag-off of this project, the lack of proper road infrastructure has hindered the progress of our rural communities. Farmers have struggled to transport their produce to markets, students have faced difficulties reaching schools, and medical emergencies have been compounded by the challenges of accessing timely healthcare.

“However, our boss, Mr. PROJECT is set to change the narratives. Hence, the FCT Administration has taken a giant step towards addressing these challenges.

“This 11km, Yangoji – Ebo Road in Kwali Area Council may seem like a modest undertaking, but its impact will be far-reaching.

“It will enhance connectivity, reduce the challenges of insecurity, and open up opportunities for trade and commerce. It will also improve access to education and healthcare, empowering our rural population to lead healthier and more prosperous lives.”

Earlier, Kwali chairman, Danladi Chiya informed the FCTA that his people were full of joy and happy with him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for opening up their communities, saying the road has enhanced the security situation of the area.

In his welcome address, Coordinator of FCT Satellite Towns Development Department ( STDD), Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, said the road was a significant milestone in the life of Kwali people.

According to him, Wike has ensured that no community is left behind, as the road would significantly improve the living standard of the people who are largely agrarian.
