Nigeria defender Solomon Kwambe has expressed his delight following his recall for the Super Eagles’ Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Congo and South Africa. The Sunshine Stars of Akure defender is delighted to earn a call up for Nigeria’s qualifiers and has assured to give his best to ensure the African champions secure a place in next year’s Nation Cup.
Kwambe who was one of the Super Eagles’ stand-out performers at the 2014 African Nations Championship in South Africa stages a return to the African champions fold after missing out of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
“I feel very excited to be back to the squad because it is another opportunity given to me to showcase my skills,” Kwambe said. “When I got the invite for the African Cup of Nations qualifiers, I was so excited and grateful to God who made it possible and I’m charged to justify my inclusion.
Kwambe who put up a commanding display against the Black Meteors of Ghana in the Transformation Cup also assured that the Red Devils will not stop the Eagles from reaching the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
“The game against Congo is a do or die affair and we [Eagles] are aware of this and we are preparing so hard so that we can achieve our goal there [in Congo].
“As it stands now, we are taking our training schedule very serious and following our coaches instruction and what is on ground, I can assure Nigerians that we will get the desired result in Point Noire,” concluded the 10 times capped national team player.
