The presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 general elections, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, has donated N50 million in support of the victims of the Maiduguri flood disaster.
Kwankwaso while presenting the cheque to Governor Babagana Zulum at the Government House Maiduguri, described the flood disaster as very grave for Borno that is still trying to recover from the pangs of the activities of the terrorist group, Boko Haram.
The former governor of kano state who was on a sympathy visit to0 the North East state further described the flood disaster caused by the collapsed Alau Dam, as regrettable.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives and the speedy recovery of the injured and those who lost their property.
Responding, Governor Zulum thanked Kwankwaso for his sustained show of support to the government and people of Borno in moments of trial, and assured him of a judicious use of the donation for the maximum benefit of the people affected by the disaster.
Zulum further that Kwankwaso as the governor of Kano State sponsored 100 orphans from Borno State to study in Kano State during the peak of insurgency in the state between 2011 and 2015.
The former Presidential candidate was accompanied on the visit by some chieftains of the NNPP including; Alhaji Buba Galadima, Dr Ajuji Ahmed and Abba Kawu Ali.
