Kwara APC stakeholders petition Tinubu, Yilwatda over governor’s alleged high-handedness

Some aggrieved stakeholders within the Kwara state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene in what they describe as the high-handedness of Governor Abdulrhaman Abudulrazaq which they claim is causing internal conflicts within the party in the state.
The appeal was conveyed in an open letter released on Thursday, titled “State of Affairs of the Party in Kwara State,” jointly signed by Hon. Olosasa Toyin, Comrade Onimasa Hazmat Ganeey, and Alhaji Abdulraheem Alabi, called for urgent actions to preserve cohesion and strengthen the party’s prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The stakeholders further asked the President, as leader of both the country and the party, “to urgently step into the situation in Kwara State and ensure that no negative moves affect the plan of the APC to deliver the state to our dear party in 2027.”
Nevertheless , they reaffirmed their longstanding commitment to the party, adding that many members have been part of the progressive movement even before the formation of the APC in 2013.
The group raised concerns over recent developments within the Kwara chapter under Governor Abdulrazaq, regretting that certain actions and political strategies are beginning to affect the party unity and cohesion.
The stakeholders added that the issues, if not addressed, coul have negative implications for party harmony and electoral performance.
They further expressed concern about the management of internal party processes, particularly regarding succession planning and candidate selection ahead of the next election cycle. The group urged adherence to inclusive and transparent mechanisms that would strengthen confidence among party members.
The letter also reacted to the ongoing political intrigues involving some prominent figures such as former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, warning that the developments capable of heightening political tensions should be carefully managed to avoid unintended consequences for public peace and stability of the state.
“Your Excellency, we urge you to immediately call Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to order. He should not drag the party and its candidates in next year’s elections into the mud,” the letter stated.
The stakeholders called for timely intervention to foster reconciliation, strengthen internal democracy, and ensure that the APC remains the party to be at in Kwara politics.
