From Olanrewaju Lawal, Ilorin
Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP) in Kwara state, Hon. Solomon Edojah, has refuted allegations that the party’s ward congresses in the state ended in violence.
Edojah, who stated this while speaking with Journalists in Ilorin said he didn’t interven in the just concluded wards and local government congresses disclosing that the state congress would hold tomorrow.
Accordin to him, the congresses were supervised by the electoral committee sent by the national leadership of the party under peaceful atmosphere just as he debunked rumour that crises marred the party’s congresses across the state.
“Let us not paint an exaggerated picture of violence, there was never violence. Mark you, we have 193 wards and the ward elections were held simultaneously in those 193 wards.
“There are bound to be minor disagreements, they were too minor and insignificant in number to undermine the entire process.
“On Ajikobi ward, because all the big gladiators are from there, the Gbemisola of the world, Professor Oba, Bola Shagaya are all from that same ward. I appeal to the congress committee themselves to go and conduct it so that it would be rancour-free instead of relying on the returning officers as it ought to be and they agreed to my suggestion,” he said.
He therefore assured that the state congress coming up tomorrow would be a remarkable improvement from the previous congresses, adding that stakeholders of the party have been sensitized to put behind their individual interests for the party to succeed in the state.
