From Bashir Rabe Mani in Sokoto
A team of Engineers from Turkey has arrived in Sokoto State to install new equipment at the Sokoto Modern Abattoir under the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES).
The team was conducted around the facility by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development, Abubakar Muhammad Yabo, who guided them through the various sections of the abattoir to assess the existing facilities and identify areas requiring the installation of the new equipment.
The intervention is part of ongoing efforts by the Sokoto State Government, through the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development and the L-PRES Project, to modernise livestock infrastructure and improve meat processing operations.
Upon completion, the installation is expected to strengthen the abattoir’s operational capacity, improve processing efficiency, and promote hygienic meat handling in line with modern standards.
The initiative is also expected to support livestock farmers, processors, and other stakeholders by strengthening the livestock value chain and contributing to improved meat safety and public health outcomes across the state.
