Labour Party says presidential, NASS candidates submitted before INEC deadline

The Labour Party (LP) has dismissed reports claiming it failed to upload the names of its presidential and National Assembly candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal before the July 14 deadline.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Ken Eluma Asogwa, the party described the reports as false and misleading, insisting that all its duly nominated candidates were successfully submitted within the commission’s stipulated timeframe.
According to the party, the names of its presidential and vice-presidential candidates were uploaded on July 10, four days before the nomination portal closed, in full compliance with INEC’s guidelines.
The LP faulted a media report alleging otherwise, accusing the publication of relying on an unnamed INEC source without verifying the information with the party’s leadership.
The party also expressed confidence that INEC’s forthcoming publication of the final list of validly nominated candidates for the 2027 general elections would confirm that its candidates were properly nominated.
It urged members, supporters and the public to disregard the report, describing it as misinformation intended to undermine the party’s growing political momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.
