The Administrator of the Lafia North Development Area Administrative Council, Hon. Nasiru Kasimu Akanza, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule for ongoing road infrastructure projects, describing them as landmark initiatives that will enhance economic development and improve transportation across the country.
Speaking with journalists at his office in Shabu, Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Akanza lauded the flag-off of the Akwanga–Jos–Gombe–Maiduguri Super Highway project and the commissioning of the 3-kilometre dualised road in Akwanga.
According to him, the projects will reduce traffic congestion, improve road safety, facilitate the movement of people and goods, and stimulate socio-economic activities in Nasarawa State and beyond.
He also praised Governor Sule’s infrastructure agenda, describing it as a lasting legacy that will positively impact future generations.
The administrator urged residents of the state to continue supporting the governor’s administration, noting that his developmental initiatives have inspired local government chairmen and development area administrators to implement grassroots-oriented projects across the state.
On security, Akanza commended security agencies for their sustained efforts in tackling criminal activities, stating that the security situation in Lafia and surrounding communities has improved significantly.
He disclosed that the Lafia Local Government Council, in collaboration with development area administrators and security agencies, has intensified efforts to identify and apprehend criminal elements operating within Lafia metropolis and its environs.
“I want to assure you that we are now enjoying relative peace in Shabu and neighbouring communities compared to the past. Upon assuming office as the Administrator of Lafia North Development Area, I immediately engaged security operatives to intensify the fight against criminality, and the results have been encouraging. Today, residents can go about their lawful businesses without fear of intimidation by criminals,” he said.
Akanza also appealed to youths in Nasarawa State to shun violence and avoid being used by self-serving politicians as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
He urged young people to remain law-abiding, promote peaceful coexistence, and contribute positively to the development of the state.
“We must remain vigilant and avoid politicians who seek to exploit youths for selfish political interests. Rather than becoming agents of destruction, we should work together to protect our communities and promote peace. Governor Abdullahi Sule is a peaceful leader, and we should emulate his commitment to unity and development,” he added.
The administrator reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies and implementing policies that promote peace, security, and sustainable development across the Lafia North Development Area.
