The Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission (LASERC) has announced the approval of 14 electricity licences and permits across independent distribution, metering services, and interconnected mini-grid operations.
The licences were presented by Alexander Ogunbiyi, the chairman of LASERC, alongside Temitope George, chief executive officer (CEO) of the commission, during LASERC’s maiden stakeholder engagement held on May 7 in Lagos.
In a post on LinkedIn, the commission said the move was part of efforts to strengthen a regulated and transparent electricity market in Lagos.
“This milestone underscores LASERC’s commitment to enforcing compliance, promoting investment confidence, and ensuring a structured electricity market that supports sustainable sector growth,” LASERC said.
The approved operators include Axxela Limited for a 5.8 megawatt (MW) project at Cadbury Nigeria Plc in Agidingbi; Isolo Power Gen Limited for a 9MW project along the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway in Isolo; and Isolo Power Supply Limited, which received an independent electricity distribution network (IEDN) licence for the same location.
According to the commission, Daybreak Power Solutions Limited secured multiple approvals covering Seven-Up Bottling Company in Oregun, Crown Flour Mill in Ikorodu, Nigerdock FZE on Snake Island, Nigerian Breweries in Iganmu, Nigerian Bottling Company in Ikeja, and Promasidor Nigeria Limited in Isolo.
Others are the New Hampshire Capital Limited, which received approval as a meter asset provider, while GossLink Engineering Limited secured licences covering 330KV and below operations, as well as for 400V vendor and importation.
In addition, Enaro Energy Mini-Grid Limited was granted approval for an interconnected mini-grid project in Ishokan Phase 1 and Mercyland Phase 1 in Ayobo-Ipaja, Lagos.
The commission said the approvals reinforce its regulatory mandate to ensure accountability, operational standards, and sustainable development across the Lagos electricity value chain.
Speaking during the engagement, George disclosed that LASERC is establishing zonal offices in Ikorodu, Amuwo Odofin/Badagry axis, and Sangotedo/Epe axis to improve complaint resolution and enhance access to regulatory services across the state.
The CEO said the offices are expected to become operational in the third quarter (Q3) of 2026.
