Former Senate President Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan and Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai have secured the senatorial tickets of the All Progressives Congress (APC ) for Yobe North and Yobe South respectively ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Lawan was affirmed as the APC consensus candidate for Yobe North during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Gashu’a, headquarters of Bade Local Government Area.
Reacting to his emergence, the former Senate President described the development as a reflection of unity and collective commitment to the progress of the district.
He also appreciated party leaders at both national and state levels, including Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni and Minister of Police Affairs Ibrahim Gaidam, for what he called extensive consultations that led to the consensus arrangement.
Lawan further urged politicians and supporters to embrace peaceful and issue-based campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections.
In Yobe South, APC stakeholders also endorsed Bomai as the party’s consensus senatorial candidate following consultations among party elders and political leaders across the district.
The affirmation meeting, held at the Federal College of Education Multipurpose Hall in Potiskum, was supervised by the Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Buba Mashio, alongside party leaders, youth groups and supporters.
Bomai thanked APC stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him and pledged continued representation of the district’s interests at the National Assembly.
With the latest developments, the APC has now produced consensus candidates for all three senatorial districts in Yobe State, including Governor Mai Mala Buni for Yobe East.
