Lawmaker laments poor health indices in Kaduna state

The Chairman Kaduna State House Assembly Committee on Health, DR Isaac Zanchai has lamented the poor health indices in the state, saying it is time the government made health care its priority.
He stated this during the 1st progressive review meeting of the memorandum of understanding between Kaduna government and international development and Bill and Melinda Gate Foundations on strengthening the primary health care system in the state.
According to him, diagnostic was done to revealed the drivers of poor health outcome in the state,
“The results illustrated that Kaduna state health system is characterise by low coverage with basic health interventions, poor quality of care and inadequate governance “
Speaking earlier the Executive Secretary kaduna state Primary Health Care Development Agency Dr Saudatu Balarabe said thr poor health coverage in the state necessitate the signing of the memorandum of understanding to address issue of supply of PHC service
“Limited PHC facility readiness to deliver basic health service due to poor infrastructure, lack of equipment, basic amenities and limited scope of service s”
Dr Saudatu Balarabe added that the MOU would also address the constraints associated with limited availability of essential health commodities due to lack of coordination.
She said the purpose of the MOU was to support Gov efforts in strengthen primary health care system .
“It is also to improve service delivery and reduced financial barriers and access for pregnant women ,children, “with objectives of increasing and sustaining equitable coverage of essential health service, accelerating reduction in maternal and child mortality” She said
