Auditors in Kano State have been advised to discharge their duties in line with global practices because of the critical roles they play in detecting and deterring fraud in organizations.
The Chairman Public Account Committee Kano State House of Assembly, Honorable Tukur Muhammad, during a 2 —day workshop organized by the office of the Auditor General for Local Government under the leadership of Alhaji Ahmad Tijjani Abdullahi in Kaduna yesterday.
According to to him “It takes appointing people with proven records of competence to improve the quality of audit and financial reporting in the country.”
He stressed the importance of building a better working condition through information sharing, adding that, “if we want to build a better working world with information available to financial institutions, then those who sit at the top of governance, especially the audit committee members need to be able to access information in real-time.”
He pointed out that the professionalism shown by the office of the Auditor General and the Commitment of Public Account Committee (PAC) members as well as the Leadership of the House made the activities successful.
In his remarks, the Auditor – General of the state, Alhaji Ahmad Tijjani Abdullahi, explained that the gathering was aimed at re-awakening Local Government Auditors on the present-day challenge in Public Finance Management and was also intended to sharpen the skills of the Auditors.
