The absent of Barrister D.G Tukura, at the Taraba state Upper area Court (11), Jalingo has stayed Proceedings in a case between Mr. Gabriel Olayinka, a Taraba base journalist who is standing trial before the Court over alleged criminal breach of trust, and Mr. Isa Jubril.
Counsel to the defendant, Barr. Longs Kingman of P.D Pius and Associate, told journalists at the court premises in Jalingo that, they were served with the hearing notice last week to appear before the court today but the complainant counsel, D.G Tukura failed to appear.
According to Barrister Kingman, the complainant was to appear with witnesses to establish his allegations of criminal breach of trust against his client for progress of the case.
He disclosed that, while at the court, a copy of adjournment notice written by the complainant’s counsel over an engagement at the state high court was presented, seeking adjustment of the case to a latter date.
He also stated that the endorsement of the warrant that was supposed to be the instrument to produce the defendant in court was written 16th June, and not 15th June 2026, as against the hearing notice that he was served with. He said his team however conceived to the adjournment.
Meanwhile, the trial judge, Hon. Lawan Jika adjourned the case till 24th. June for hearing proper.
