LG poll: Kwara APC withdraws suit against PDP

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state has withdrawn from the suit it filed against the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) challenging the October 26, 2013 local government elections in the state.

APC State Secretary, Prince Yemi Afolayan, made the disclosure in a letter dated May 8, 2014 and addressed to Mr Deji Gbadeyan, the Plaintiffs leading counsel handling the case.

A copy of the letter was made available to Journalists in Ilorin.

Afolayan in the two page of four paragraphs letter with the heading; “Withdrawal of suit N0 KWS/201/2013 in the High Court of Kwara State in Ilorin Judicial division said the matter came to court on August 23, 2013.

“I wish to inform you that our party, All Progressive Congress, APC, is no longer interested in the matter, which is in the court of Hon. Justice Kawu”.

The secretary copied Mr Adebayo Adelodun (SAN), counsel to Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC), High Court Registrar and KWASIEC Chairman.

It would be recalled that APC and six other plaintiffs had dragged KWASIEC, PDP and Labour Party (LP) to court challenging the conduct of the October 26, 2013 local government election.

The motion filed by the Party’s lawyer, Deji Gbadeyan, contained 10-paragraph affidavit deposed to by one Ayodeji Kudabo from Gbadeyan’s Chambers.
