Sequel to the expiration of local government chairmen tenure of office, the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) has issued 90 days election notice for the conduct of councils elections in the state.

Disclosing the development in a press  release signed and issued Monday in Yola by the Commission’s Chairman, Isah Shettima, stating that the election notice commences on the 10th January, to 9th April, 2022 as required by LG administration law.

According to the commission, the prevailing circumstances before and during the period including the destruction of election materials by “ End Sars” demonstrators, conversion of voting points into polling units and registration of new voters by INEC among others, increased election estimate far and above the 2021, budget.

Shettima, advanced  that it was against this backdrop that the preparations for the conduct of the LGC elections earlier slated for 4th December, 2021 were suspended.

He explained that the State Government has made adequate provisions for the electoral body to proceed with the elections.
