LG reality series transforms African communities with innovative technology

Date:

LG Electronics has concluded its pan-African Make Life Good reality series, showcasing how technology can drive community development and improve livelihoods across Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya.

Produced in partnership with MultiChoice, a Canal+ company, the six-episode series highlighted the use of LG’s household and smart technology products to transform schools, vocational centres and community facilities serving vulnerable groups.

Hosted by actress Jessica Dlamini, the programme featured accomplished Africans returning to communities that shaped their lives to execute life-changing projects within 24 hours.

The interventions included the installation of washing machines, dryers, InstaView refrigerators, NeoChef microwave ovens, dishwashers, OLED and QNED televisions, xboom audio systems and DualCool inverter air conditioners.

Speaking on the initiative, Dlamini said the project celebrated gratitude and purposeful giving back to society.

She said, “What makes Make Life Good special is that it goes beyond transformation. It celebrates gratitude, purpose and giving back. Behind every successful person is a community, a mentor, a caregiver, or a safe space that helped shape their journey.”

According to her, the series demonstrated that when technology and compassion are combined, communities can experience lasting and meaningful change.

The opening episode featured former Nigerian international goalkeeper William Okpara, who led the renovation of a school sports facility by providing laundry equipment and an audio system to improve the learning environment for young athletes.

Other episodes saw mountaineer Saray Khumalo, filmmaker Adze Ugah, Esther Munyi and Perpetual Kendi spearhead projects that upgraded vocational centres, children’s homes and youth facilities with modern LG technology.

LG said the interventions were designed to improve learning, food preservation, hygiene, comfort and digital skills while creating safer and more dignified spaces for beneficiaries.

Managing Director of LG Electronics Nigeria, Mr Hyoung Sub Ji, said innovation should go beyond product development to positively impact society.

He said, “At LG Electronics, we believe true innovation extends beyond technology. It is about creating solutions that improve lives and help communities thrive. Through Make Life Good, we have shown how our products can address everyday challenges while contributing to meaningful social impact.”
