A chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State, and commissioner representing the State in the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hon. Mrs. Ginika Tor, has said loyal members of the party would henceforth be rewarded.
She spoke in her country home in Awgu Local Government Area of the State at a special meeting during which dedicated party faithful were handsomely rewarded.
The event also witnessed the appreciation of party members who put up visible performance during the recently conducted membership registration and revalidation exercise of the APC.
Over 20 members of the party received cash and other gift items from the Federal Commissioner.
Hon. Tor urged the members to remain loyal to the party as more of such rewards would be coming frequently.
“When we started the membership registration exercise, I said clearly that we are going to reward those who come tops in the exercise.
“Today, I have come to fulfil that promise with cash reward and some other items. Time has gone when party faithful don’t get any reward, we are here today to change the narrative.
“I urge you people to keep faith with the party; keep supporting our President, Muhammadu Buhari, the minister and leader of the party in the State, Hon. Geoffrey Onyeama, as well as the representative of the Southeast in the APC National Caretaker Committee, Senator Ken Nnamani.
“I want to assure you that your labour for the party would not be in vain, we will always come to appreciate your efforts because the party revolves in the grassroots,” the commissioner stated.
In his speech at the event, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the party during the 2019 general elections, Barr. Chikwado Chukwunta, applauded the commissioner for carrying out what he described as “historic.”
He stressed that reward system was important for the survival of any political party, adding “that is what we have witnessed today from the leader of the party in Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Ginika Tor.”
He blamed the party’s poor performance during the last election on factionalization, warning that “we are no longer going to allow it. This is what happened to us in 2015 and 2019, and people want a repeat of it.
“As the Deputy Chairman of this party in Enugu State, I’m next to Dr. Ben Nwoye, I stand here to say that nobody was suspended.
“The era of suspension and factionalization is over, we want to win elections in Enugu State. Anyone that comes to tell you about any faction or group again, no matter how highly placed, see the person as an enemy. What we have today is one APC,” he declared.
Also speaking, a former governorship aspirant during the 2019 election, Barr. Ben Eche, also cautioned against creating needless tension in the party.
He said as the party moves into the congress, it was time to close ranks and work towards winning the gubernatorial election in the State.
