LP candidates forum hails supreme court verdict, backs Nenadi led leadership

The Labour Party Candidates Forum has congratulated the Interim National Chairman of the Labour Party, Distinguished Senator Nenadi Esther Usman, the National Secretary, Distinguished Senator Darlington Nwokocha, and the National Leader of the party, Governor Alex Chioma Otti, on what it described as a resounding legal victory affirming the new leadership of the party.

In a statement by Barrister Okeme Adejoh (Chairman) and Comrade Eze Oko Splendour (Secretary), the Forum applauded the judgments of the Supreme Court and the Federal High Court which sacked Julius Abure as National Chairman on the grounds that his tenure had expired.

The Forum expressed satisfaction that the new leadership has formally taken over the party’s national secretariat located at No. 2 IBM Haruna Street, Utako District, Abuja, describing the development as a step toward restoring stability and institutional order within the party.

According to the statement, “We hereby reiterate our support for the above leadership of the Labour Party to reposition and prepare our great party ahead of the imminent Ward, LGAs and State Congresses that will end up in a National Convention.

“We call on all the aggrieved members to sheathe their swords and join hands to rebuild our great party. We will not sit back and watch some people destroy our great party because of selfishness or better still personal interest.

“No one person owns the party. All the stakeholders of the party eg. NLC, TUC, Elected members that are still in the party, 2023 candidates that are still in the party, Obidient members that are still in the party, the former NWC members that are still in the party, the 2023 vice presidential candidate to Peter Obi, His Excellency Yusuf Datti Baba Ahmed etc should join hands together and rebuild our great party.

The Forum maintained that the Labour Party remains the best alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of deepening poverty, incompetence, and insecurity in Nigeria.

The Forum added, “Labour Party remains the best alternative to APC, the party that has weaponized poverty, incompetence and insecurity in Nigeria. Let us forget our differences and unite the party so as to kick this wicked party (APC) out of power come 2027 for the betterment of Nigerians.

“Labour Party Candidates Forum is interested in the reconciliation process proposed by the National Chairman Dist. Sen. Nenadi Usman.

“We are glad to announce to leadership that we have credible men and women who have volunteered to be part of the peace and reconciliatory committee to see that Labour Party Members are reunited with a common interest and to see that peace is completely returned to Labour Party.”
