Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud has underscored its commitment to youth empowerment and national integration through the launch of the 2026 Quarterly Drama Series and NYSC Arts and Culture Exhibition.
Speaking at the premiere held on Wednesday at the Cyprian Ekwensi Centre for Arts and Culture, she described the initiative as a vital platform for celebrating the immense talents of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members.
Dr. Mahmoud emphasized that the participation of corps members in cultural activities extends far beyond simple entertainment.
The Minister encouraged the performers and artists to continue using their talents as instruments for storytelling and national integration, noting that their voices are essential in shaping narratives of hope and progress.
On his part, Mandate Secretary for the FCT Social Development Secretariat, Hon. Ibrahim Aminu, noted that the play serves as a “mirror of society,” designed to challenge perceptions and inspire positive change.
Aminu further highlighted that the accompanying Arts and Crafts Exhibition showcases the ingenuity and cultural richness of corps members, reinforcing their role as drivers of economic growth.
The event featured the stage play “KALANGU,” a term signifying “Effective Communication in the Family or an Organization”.
