Two key allies of the ousted President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have intensified lobby to remain relevant in the scheme of things at the Glass House.

It will be recalled that the former president Alhaji Aminu Maigari was impeached last week Thursday by eight members of the 13-man Executive Committee of the NFF, raising fears about the future of his close allies in the scheme of things.

Report had it that the former President’s men who head a league committee were at the Minister of Sports office at the National Stadium on Friday “to pledge my loyalty”.

The Minister, Tammy Danagogo, was not in the office but the ‘August visitor’ was said to have told the Special Assistant to the Minister that he came to pledge his loyalty after the exit of Maigari.

The SA was said to have wondered why the former NFF Boss ally felt it was necessary to pledge loyalty, recalling that the same person a couple of weeks ago accused the Sports Minister of interfering in the running of football.

Also, another key ally who is a member of the three-man committee set up to negotiate with Stephen Keshi, was said to have called the Acting President of the NFF, Mike Umeh, telling him that “I am a team player” and ready to work to move Nigerian football forward.

“You can see that life is interesting. These men dined and wined with Maigari, but the moment he was impeached, they only escorted him to his car and returned to continue with the board meeting.

“It may also interest you to note that one of them, even told the cameramen not to film him along with Maigari after his impeachment,” an official who pleaded anonymity.
