Man, 21, jailed for fraud in Abuja

Date:

A Wuse Senior Magistrates’ Court in Abuja yesterday sentenced a man, Danie Aondowase, 21, to three months imprisonment for defrauding one MsJoy Favour of N99, 000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Folashade Oyekan, sentenced Aondowase without option of fine after he pleaded guilty to fraud.

Oyekan also ordered that the amount should be refunded to the nominal complainant immediately.

Aondowase was convicted of criminal breach of trust and cheating.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl. Monday Akor, had told the court that Favour reported the case on April 9 at Wuse Police Station.

Akor said that Aondowase of Piwoyi village, who was the treasurer of a thrift society (otherwise called ‘esusu’), collected the amount from Favour, a member of the society, but failed to repay her when she demanded for the money.
