A 25 year-old man, Shamsu Isa has told a Kano senior magistrate court No. 25, sitting in No-mans land, Kano, that he mistakenly impregnated his 27 year-old sister.
This information is contained in first information report, on July 4, the ward head of Takalmawa quarters, in the ancient city, reported to the police that, Shamsu Isa was having sexual intercourse with his elder sister.
The charge sheet filed against the accused before the court said “On 4th July, 2014, the ward head of Takalmawa quarters reported at Jakara division that on July 1st, you, Shamsu Isa had sexual intercourse with your sister, contrary to section 390 of the Penal Code Law”.
The prosecution told the court that, Na’ima Isa aged 27 years was pregnant, adding that , she had a feeble mind.
Responding to the allegation slammed against him before the court, the accuse told the court that the allegation leveled against him was true, ” all that has been read against me, is true, it was a mistake, I mistakenly pregnant her, she is my elder sister”.
The prosecutor, corporal Ibrahim Abdulrazak told the court that, the court lacks jurisdiction to preside over the matter, he applied for the matter to be adjourned to another date, stating that request is to enable the police conclude investigation into the case.
Senior magistrate Ummi Sani Kurawa, while delivering her ruling, ordered that Shamsu Isa be remanded in prison custody.
The matter is adjourned to August 4, for mention.
