A 35 years old man identified as Hashimu Surajo of Kamfanin Saye in Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State has been reportedly stabbed to death by a drug addicted youth in the neighbourhood.
According to a witness who does not want his name in print, the incident occurred Wednesday around 8:30 when the suspect identified as Yusuf Yahaya Magaji went to the deceased house and stabbed him twice in his stomach.
The squabble with the suspect was as a result of the deceased reporting him to the village head-on three occasions for stealing his animal feeds.
It was said the the suspect got angry when the village Head ordered him to return the stolen items.
The witness added that the order of the village head did not deter the suspect who went back to the Cassava farm of the deceased situated in his backyard to steal.
“When the wife of the deceased saw him, she alerted the community. As a result of this Magaji vowed to get rid of Hashimu and his wife.
“ In order to accomplish his devilish mission, the suspect Yusuf Yahaya Magaji went to the late Hashimu’s house around 8.30pm on Wednesday and accomplished his devilish mission by stabbing him twice and left him lying in blood.
“Luck ran out on him as members of the vigilante chased him and arrested him, they brought him back to the community where he confessed what he did and they handed him over to the Saye Divisional Police headquarters.”
It was gathered that all attempts to save the life of Hashimu at the hospital failed.
At the time of filling this report the suspect is still in Police custody at Saye Divisional Police headquarters.
Our correspondent who visited the family house of the deceased saw symphatizers and mourners gathered to register their condolences.
