Man bags 6 months in prison for stealing bag of rice

An Upper Sharia Court, sitting in Hadejia, has convicted one Isma’ila Hassan, of Arawa village, Auyo local government area to 6 months in prison, for stealing a bag of rice belonging to one Ali Abubakar, of Gawuna Quarters, in Hadejia.

The presiding Magistrate, Justice Kawu Umar, has, in his summation, charged the plaintiff to pay an option of fine of N5,000, together with the return of the stolen rice to its rightful owner.

It was on July 10, 2014 that the suspect was arrested by the team of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa state, for committing the act of trespassing and stealing a whole bag of rice belonging to Ali Abubakar.

The state commandant Dr. Muhammad Gidado Fari, who briefed our reporter, warned that criminals have no hiding place in Jigawa state.
