Man stabbed over N2,000 debt

A 20-years-old man, identified as Frederick was on Monday stabbed on the neck while attempting to recover an alleged N2,000 debt from his debtor.

Frederick, who was bled profusely, was taken to a private hospital on a wheelbarrow after several motorists refused to take him. He was unconscious when the newsmen visited the hospital.

According to sources Frederick was stabbed when his debtor, identified as Oruma, attacked him with a broken bottle.

“Frederick told the Police that he went to collect N2, 000 owed him by Oruma. When Oruma did not pay, he decided to collect a property of Oruma and a fight began, which led to the stabbing, the source said.

Other sources said fight broke out during gambling among friends when the stabbing occurred.

It was gathered that Frederick hails from Ebonyi state and works in an ice-cream company in Benin City. The Police were said to have questioned Frederick at the hospital before he slipped into a state of unconscious.

The suspect was said to have been arrested.
