The police have arraigned Mike Ezeani, the Manager of Suncaty Investment Ltd, in a Senior Magistrates’ court for alleged negligence of duty.
Ezeani, of Sambo Lugbe, Airport Road, is charged with criminal breach of trust, negligence and misappropriation.
The Prosecutor, Mr. Atteh Effiong, told the court that, on July 2, Mr. Johnson Uzuegbunam, the Executive Officer of the company, lodged a report against the accused at the FCT Police Command.
The prosecutor told the court that Ezeani was employed by the complainant to also manage his hotel and supervise a project site in Sabon Lugbe, on the Airport Road, Abuja.
Effiong told the court that the accused, instead of doing his duties, left the operations unsupervised.
According to him, in the process, 200 bags of cement, 12 trips of sand, pallet for blocks and various lengths of iron rods were missing.
Other missing items are two refrigerators and Samsung split unit air conditioner, all valued at N3.3 million.
The prosecutor told the court that when the complainant asked the accused to account for the items, he could not.
He told the court that the offences contravened the provisions of sections 312, 196, 306 of the Penal Code.
If convicted, he faces about 22 years in prison with an option to pay a fine, or with both.
The Senior Magistrate, Mr. Aminu Eri, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum who must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court.
He then adjourned the matter to April 3 for continuation of hearing (NAN)
