Masari launches Katsina contributory health care scheme

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina state yesterday flag-off the implementation of the Katsina state contributory health care scheme.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Masari disclosed that one percent of the state statutory allocation in the 2021 budget has been set aside for the state contributory health care agency.
The governor further disclosed that a total of 320,000 persons from the informal sector were enrol into the scheme while according to him 53,242 vulnerable population will be covered under the basic health care provision fund.
He added that the funds was meant to reduce financial burden faced by the people in having access to easy and sustainable Heath care in the state.
The Governor said ” there is a plan to integrate retired civil servants into the scheme as soon as the contributory pension scheme law is passed”.
He stressed that all these are part of government’s intervention towards setting up of a sustainable health care delivery in the state.
Masari called on the beneficiaries to take advantage of the fund in providing health care for themselves and their family
In his remark, the state Commissioner of health, Engineer Yakubu Nuhu Danja noted that the state has provided all the necessary enabling environment to make the scheme work.
Also speaking the director-general of the agency, Alhaji Muhammad T. Ibrahim Safana disclosed they have conducted health facilities preparedness assessment, identified HCF gaps and shared feedback to Him and SPHCA that has since been addressed by HCH.
