Reports in England claim Mason Greenwood has informed friends that he is ‘done’ at Manchester United and does not expect to play for the club again.
Greenwood’s charges for attempted rape, assault causing actual bodily harm, and controlling and coercive behaviour were dropped in February 2023, following his arrest in January 2022, sparking speculation about a possible return to football.
However, according to The Sun, he believes he will never play for United again, despite the club’s ongoing internal consultation about what steps to take next with the 21-year-old
Despite having criminal charges dropped against him, Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood does not expect to play for the club again.
According to the tabloid, Greenwood believes he is “finished” at Old Trafford and will not play for Man Utd “ever again.”
That realisation is said to have left him frustrated because he wants to get back to playing, despite the fact that he accepts it is a situation of “his own making.”
Greenwood was arrested in January 2022 after charges supported by video evidence surfaced on social media, and he was later re-arrested in November for violating bail conditions.
He was scheduled to stand trial on his allegations in November of this year, but they were dismissed, and United has since conducted an internal inquiry.
According to reports in February, there was a split within the club over Greenwood’s future, with some claiming the club owed him a duty of care due to his lengthy history with Man United. Greenwood is under contract with United until 2025.
