Zamfara State Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle has pronounced a 2-month ultimatum for recalcitrant bandits operating in the state to surrender all dangerous weapons in their possession effective from today (Tuesday).
In a Special broadcast, Governor Matawalle called for the federal government to for the sake of ensuring lasting peace and tranquility were totally restored in Zamfara State, to deploy 6,000 more troops with a view to deny any chance for bandits to breathe.
“Let me reiterate in addition to the banning of illegal mining and the impose of ‘no fly zone’ order by the federal government, that henceforth, no over two persons should be sighted on one motorcycle across the state.
“Again, no group of bike riders must move into same direction and at the same time as that will attract an aggressive attention and approach of the patrolling security operatives, and I am warning members of ‘Yansakai, that the ban order of their illegal activities is still in force.
“All the 17 emirs and that of traditional rulers under their emirates and the 14 local government sole administrators should remain and monitor movements in their domains, and to timely report any questionable to the relevant authorities”, Matawalle has warned.
He further warned politicians to abstain from using security matters for politics and, or using Facebook handlers who create accounts aimed to derail efforts by the State Government and security agencies on tackling insecurity challenges that bedeviled the state.
