Maternal health: Forum commends Jigawa govt for increased funding

The Jigawa Maternal New born Child Health Accountability Forum (JiMAF) has commended Jigawa state government for increasing monthly grant on free maternal and child medical treatment from N15 million to N75million.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Cor-Chair of JIMAF Comrade Baffa Nayaya and issued to news men yesterday in Dutse..
The forum is a platform comprising Civil societies, Media, government and citizens who are working to improve maternal health services In the state.
The forum described the review of the grant as a well come development that will go in tandem with the growing demand for more resources to tackle the high rate of maternal and child death in the state.
According to the statement, the government has demonstrated a high sense of concern and answers public call on the need to increase its commitment in improving maternal and child health care service.
The group who are also partners to Partnership to Engage Reform and Learn ( PERL ), MNCH2 has called on the state governor Alhaji Muhammadu Badaru to ensure an immediate implementation of the increment, constant and timely release o f the monthly grants.
The release how ever advice government to involve the civil society and other non governmental organization in the policy implementation for more effective monitoring, evaluation and timely intervention when necessary.
JiMAF also call on the general public to support the policy by taking their children and allowing their wives to visit any nearest health facilities for anti- netal, post-natal, immunization and any related medical treatment when needed.
The forum then, promise to continue collaborating with government and any other collaborator and stake holder for improving the Maternal and Newborn Child Health in Jigawa state.
