Maternal mortality: Jigawa Assembly assures completion of Birnin Kudu Hospital

In an effort to reduce maternal mortality rate, the Jigawa state house of Assembly said, it would do all it best and ensure the completion of Birnin Kudu general hospital.
The speaker of the house Alhaji Idris Garba Jahun give the assurance yesterday while receiving the delegation of Birnin Kudu people whom visited the house to seek for their intervention.
While making an appeal before the house, the leader of the delegation Sarkin Kudu Hakimin Birnin Kudu Alhaji Garba Hassan explained that, the delegation is in the house to appeal for the completion of Birnin Kudu general hospital to save lives of thousands women and children in the area.
According to him, the hospital that spent over five years in construction was inherited from the last administration, but the present administration of APC in its continuity agenda promised to continue and approved the contract for completion.
“We really appreciated and recommended the present administration under the leadership of governor Muhammad Abubakar Badaru for given an approval to complete the Birnin Kudu general hospital, however to our greatest dismay five years after the project is yet to be completed.
“Our surprise is, the contractor confirmed to us that he was fully paid for the contract but yet no inadequate water and electricity supply, drainages, toilets and other cleaning equipment in the hospital as presently the contractor quit the site”
He maintained that, “that is why we are here to seek for your intervention and ensure the hospital is fully completed and commission for people use” the leader said.
Some of the association in the delegation are Birnin Kudu Progressive Forum, Mahangar Birnin Kudu Association, Birnin Kudu Consultative Forum, Birnin Youth association, Birnin Kudu Youth Development Association among others.
It could be that, the Jigawa state house of Assembly in collaboration with Unicef, Action Against Hunger through the support of UKaid have just last two week converge and discussed on how to address health issues particularly on Malnutrition and maternal mortality in Jigawa state.
