A non governmental organization, Motivating African Youth Initiative, MAYI, has announced an initiative to inspire and empower over 100 youths in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on fashion and art through an intensive training program.
The organization aims to equip these aspiring entrepreneurs with the necessary skills, knowledge, and resources to pursue successful careers in the creative industries.
The initiative to commence on 1 December, 2023, will offer a diverse range of workshops, mentorship programs, and hands-on training in various aspects of fashion design, and arts.
“The Creative Minds program is a step towards empowering the young minds of the FCT to explore their creative potential and find their own niche in the fashion and art industries”, the founder, says Gender advocate and founder Motivating African Youth Initiative, Ogenna Walter Ekwubiri.
The program aims to create a supportive environment for the participants, fostering their artistic talents, boosting entrepreneurial skills, and encouraging self-expression.
Some of the mentors are the likes of Dr. Linus Okorie, Obi Asika, Professor Adeniyi Adedokun, among others
She believes that investing in the youth of society is essential for nurturing a thriving creative community. By honing their craft and providing a platform for experimentation and growth, the organization seeks to nurture a generation of innovative young artists and fashion designers.
