Medical outreach: NAF targets 15,000 patients in Edo

The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has begun a 2-day medical outreach in Edo State.
It is estimated that 15, 000 persons are billed to be treated in lrhirhi Community in Oredo Local Government Area of the State by a team of Health personnel.
The exercise will provide services such as free consultation and distribution of treated mosquito nets.
Besides, surgeries will be conducted necessary, laboratory investigations, prescription and dispense drugs and issuance of eye glasses by heath experts.
At the flag-off of the programme in Benin, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, assured that the initiative would help to ameliorate the health burden of the people living in the Community and strengthen ties with them.
Abubakar who was represented by The Air Officer Commanding, Tactical Air Command (TAC), Makurdi, AVM Charles Ohwo, said said the medical outreach was designed to meet the general health needs of NAF host Community in the State.
He noted that the initiative was to provide immediate medical assistance to residents of Irhirhi Community.
“The objective of the medical outreach is to help ameliorate the health burden of the Community and to further enhance cordial relationship by ensuring availability of quality medical care to host Communities.
Group Captain Nasiru Saidu, Commander 107 Air Maritime Group, NAF, Benin welcome the beneficiaries to the programme.
The Village head (Odionwere) of lrhirhi Community, Pa Omoruyu Osemwunghe, lauded NAF for prioritising the health of the host Community and appealed to the government to rehabilitate the primary school in the area.
On his part, the state chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr. Omoefo Valentine called for more collaboration between institutions and government in the health sector to ensure that the people access healthcare.
