Meet Adedayo Benjamin-Laniyi, Adedolapo Fasawe phenomenal women improving lives in FCT

It is a pleasure to thrust into the limelight two phenomenal women in the Honourable Minister of FCT Barr. Nyesom Wike’s cabinet, brought together for a common goal: to renew the hopes of FCT people and unite for the task of restoring lost hope and improving the lives of FCT women.

They are; the Mandate Secretary of the FCT Women Affairs Secretariat, Dr. Adedayo Benjamin-Laniyi, in charge of women affairs in the FCT, and the Mandate Secretary of the FCT Health Services and Environment Secretariat, Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, who is also setting standards as the first environment secretary, are no doubt making waves of positive transformations. Their respective positions in the administrative architecture of the FCT Administration are equivalent to that of commissioners overseeing government ministries in the states of the federation.

For these two women in leadership, like the smiles they wear, are driving novel initiatives in the FCT while putting smiles on the faces of residents. Call them capable and influential women, and you won’t be wrong.

Dr. Benjamin-Laniyi exemplifies exceptional leadership, swiftly reclaiming the rights of women and children in the FCT and giving voice to their needs through socio-economic empowerment initiatives, aimed at making every woman in the FCT financially independent.

On the other hand, Dr. Fasawe is the face behind the new, effective FCT healthcare system, notably reducing maternal and infant mortality rates through innovative initiatives. One of such initiatives is enrollment of all pregnant women into the FCT Health Insurance Scheme (FHIS) free of charge, to ensure access to quality healthcare. Also is the provision of free delivery kits to ensure safe deliveries and prevent avoidable childbirth complications.

Clearly, these two women are synonymous with touching and transforming lives, as seen in numerous sustainable outreaches that are impacting thousands of lives in the FCT.

Interestingly, they form an integral part of the functional system of Wike’s-led FCT Administration, with unwavering support from the Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, to the benefit of the people.

Thus, they prove that women can work together harmoniously for a common goal devoid of unhealthy rivalry and jealousy, as their strong collaboration has brought more succor and smiles to people especially vulnerable women and children in the FCT.

By reason and experience, womanhood should be proud of these leaders, and who through their work encourages others to emulate their commitment and dedication for more effective service delivery.
