Military beefs up security in Yobe schools over missing girls

The Nigerian Army has deployed about 100 soldiers to Dapchi town, while the Nigerian police and the Nigerian security and civil defense corps have taken over the provision of security to all the schools in the state.
This is even as parents have been assured that their children are safe to stay and study in all the schools in the state.
The state governor, revealed this yesterday when the chairman and members of the probe committee to determine the circumstances surrounding the abduction of school girls at Government Girls Science and Technical College in Dapchi, led by its chairman, Rear Admiral Victor Adedipe, paid him a courtesy call at the Government House, Damaturu, the state capital.
While commending President Muhammadu Buhari for his efforts in fighting insurgency and other forms of crimes in Nigeria, the National Security Adviser to the President, retired Major General Muhammed Babagana Munguno , urged the committee to be guided strictly by its terms of reference in order to justify the confidence and trust reposed in its membership.
He urged that, in view of the occurrence of similar incidents in the past in the state, there is need to go to the root of the matter in order to forestall future occurrence, and ensure that the committee’s findings and recommendations addressed the issues contained in its terms of reference.
He assured the chairman and members of the committee that his government would give them support , cooperation and assistance towards ensuring successful discharge of their d in the state in order to achieve the wish and desire of parents of the missing girls to see their beloved daughters in their houses, early and in good health.
Earlier briefing the governor on the purpose of their visit at the Government House, the Chairman of the Committee, Rear Admiral Victor Adedipe, told the governor that the visit is in accordance of the mandate given to it which includes, among others, to unravel and determine the circumstances surrounding the abduction of the school girls, ascertain the actual number of girls abducted at the school, and to confirm the presence, composition, scale and disposition of security emplaced in the town of Dapchi as well as the school before the incidence.
He informed the governor that a lot is already going on to locate and rescue the girls and suggest measures to put in place to forestall future occurrence of such incidences.
